One continuous flow of knots that connects through from wrist to shoulder top, this sleeve of connected Celtic knotwork transforms the entire arm into an integrated pattern. The boar was always the most feared and desired prey for those seeking their sustenance in the forest. No other animal posed as much danger for the hunters and their dogs, no other was as wily and strong, a most worthy assailant.
This design is one found throughout Scotland, carved on stones by the Pictish people.

Today an old grammar school pal of mine came in for a second tattoo, a commissioned concept of a Celtic monarch butterfly. She specifically asked me to retain the distinctive dots on the edges of the wings, that make a monarch so instantly recognizable. Keeping them in, I then filed the interior with a knotwork pattern.

A Pictish equestrian drinking while riding.....a carving found on the 8th c Bullion Stone from Angus, Scotland, a jolly image that I installed on a fellow member of Clan Campbell today. This image is unique among the Pictish stones, depicting a bald, bearded man on a weary horse, carrying a shield, and drinking from a huge horn with a bird's head terminal. To give the tattoo a base I added a section of Pictish key patterning for the horse to climb up.

A man who follows the path of the Old Religion asked for this custom combination of Odinist and Celtic images. The two ravens of Odin, Hugin and Munin, represent Thought and Memory. He felt he needed to be reminded to THINK, so we have the front raven in full caw, telling him to "Be alert!" Memory appears more contemplative. They are bracketed below by the Horns of Odin symbol, and above by a Celtic triquetra. In this way we combined elements of his heritage and beliefs into an ambitious first tattoo.

The other side is Celtic double and triple spirals. Together they form a strikingly bold tribal arch to span the upper body.
